Our 12-week summer internships are designed for college undergraduate and graduate students majoring in horticulture, landscape architecture, ecology, or related plant science fields who are interested in hands-on training and academic instruction in naturalistic garden design and native plants. Currently, seven internships are available.

Our goal, upon completion of the internship program, is for students to possess a concrete understanding of native plants, obtain solid skills in caring for a naturalistic garden or the components of land stewardship, and develop public speaking skills for native plant presentations.  With this end in mind, students will participate in plant identification classes and complete an intern project that demonstrates an understanding of native plants and their use. Interns will give a 10-minute presentation on their project to staff members.  Academic credit is possible for selected internship activities.

Internships include:

  • Collections Management
  • Formal Gardens and Entrance Landscape
  • Greenhouse / Research Internship
  • Naturalistic Gardens
  • Natural Lands
