Would you enjoy spending the summer working on 129-acres of historic gardens and open space along Cape Cod Bay at one of the nation’s premier living museums?
Plimoth Plantation is looking for inquisitive and energetic students and emerging professionals to work alongside the Curator of Museum Gardens and Horticulture staff to gain inside knowledge of how gardens and landscapes are planned, maintained and interpreted in the Museum’s unique Living History Exhibits. Interns will work alongside staff in the exhibits and behind the scenes to learn about 17th – century Native and Colonial plant species and gardening techniques and theories, as well as hone their 21st-century horticultural skills. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in horticulture-related educational programs and special projects under the supervision of the Curator of Museum Gardens.
The Historical Horticulture position is ideal for students who are studying horticulture, landscape design, sustainability, environmental studies, environmental science, ecology, agriculture, botany, and/or public history, history, or museum studies. The successful candidate will have some experience in horticulture or a related field. A basic understanding of gardening techniques and terminology is preferred, but not required.
This is a part-time (25 hours/week) paid internship thanks to the generous support of the New England Farm & Garden Association. Housing and university credit are also available.
